Welcome to L.A.R.C Rise

L.A.R.C Rise was born out of concern for the future of our sons and of their friends who all have varying degrees of physical and severe learning disabilities.

Outing

Our beginnings

LARC Rise was opened in November 2009 by Lisa, Kim, and Sandra. Between us, we have a combined experience of over 30 years working with special needs.
LARC Rise was born out of concerns for the future of our sons and their friends, all of whom have varying degrees of physical, severe, profound learning difficulties and complex needs.
We wanted a safe place for their skills to be supported, encouraged, and built upon. It was important to us that we had somewhere that would personalise activities to suit their needs.
We wanted somewhere that would be a consistent part of their lives, somewhere they find enjoyable, feel supported, and somewhere they would feel proud to be a part of.
We strongly believe that all adults with learning disabilities deserve a place where they can achieve and where they keep believing ‘they can.’
A home from home!

Get in Touch

A typical week at LARC Rise

We offer a variety of different activities focusing on key areas such as life skills, social skills and recreational activities. As staff, we work hard to ‘think outside the box’ and provide our clients with motivating and engaging activities, for example, inviting sports professionals in to deliver sessions. We are a building-based day centre and where possible like to get out into our local community. Adults attending LARC Rise are supported to visit the local Co-op, to prepare meals/desserts and some days we visit the chip shop too! Some of our clients thrive on going out, they enjoy trips to the beach, ten-pin bowling, parks and the cathedral. Other adults prefer to stay in the day centre as being out in the community can make them anxious. This is when we invite the community into the centre – we have strong links with musicians, sports clubs and dance teachers.

What Our Clients
Are Saying

Our vision

Our vision was always to be a small day centre, we believe by remaining small with a consistent team with low staff turnover, we can provide the home from home environment. A place where our staff can truly get to know the abilities, likes, wants and needs of each individual who attends the day centre. Our staff build strong and positive relationships with all our clients, whether the client attends for one day or full-time. Therefore, we can offer bespoke activities as they can be adapted accordingly so as to cater properly for all.

All our staff are experienced and highly trained. Our training includes moving and handling, safeguarding, epilepsy awareness and tube feeding.

Our Promise

We promise to provide a safe, stimulating, caring and enjoyable place for individuals with severe and/or profound learning disabilities and complex needs.
A place where they can be happy, where they can be themselves, a place that fits them, where they are supported and allowed to flourish.
